Class Got Canceled!

I'm really really excited! Tomorrow I get to sleep in, because my first class is canceled! My professor came down with the flu, which sucks because I think his classes are amazing. I can't help but be excited to have no class and have my midterm pushed back though.

I also wanted to clarify something from an earlier post. Your FLGS is your Favorite Local Game Store! Local stores are way better than chains and they need your support! Don't buy from those crazy chains! Get your stuff at the place where you know the owner :-D.

Elsewhere in life, Japanese is kicking my butt. I really want to do well, but I hate the class. Its soooo hard! I feel like I'm doing ok, but we cover a lot of material, and all of our responses are graded! I don't think much of what we are learning is practical either. All of our time is spent on conversations that we memorize exactly. NOT COOL.

Yesterday was really fun! I went over to another suite and watched Alladin while one of the girls braided my hair. Then we all learned the dance to Soulja Boy.

Halo 3 Rocks My Socks!

I'm totally in love with Halo 3! This game is so sweet! I had no idea it would be so good.

I reserved a regular copy at my FLGS. I went to the release party with some friends, which was cool. When I got there I saw that they had the Legendary copies set out. They were much cooler than I expected them to be. I ended up dropping a full $130 on the Legendary Edition!

I must say that it was actually worth it. The helmet is very high quality and pretty much life-sized. I'm proud to display my acquisition!

I'm currently not very high-ranked in multi-player. I'm actually not very good at all... I have a feeling that I will begin improving soon though. I'm going to be playing regularly from now on.

Holy Hell...

It has kind of crept up on me. Tomorrow is the day I chose to move back into the dorm... I haven't packed any of my stuff or anything. In fact, I've kind of left the entire thing undone mentally and physically. I hate transitions. Once I'm doing something, I'm fine with it, but I just can't bring myself to start anything new.

I Really Need to Clean My Room...

On Wednesday the 12th I'm moving back into the dorm... I haven't even finished unpacking my stuff for summer break yet...

My room is looking like a total disaster with crap everywhere. If I don't get it cleaned soon I may become buried in all the stuff. My desk is covered in pills, Magic cards and other things I can't get rid of. I have two Gleemax Brains (one from the original promo and one from Origins). They are both sitting on my desk as well. The floor is littered with old magazines, Magic cards and various pieces of video game goodness.

In other news I finally submitted to the trend and got an XBOX Live Gamertag! My name is Bibulus Pax. Look me up if you're ever online. Make sure to include a message with any friend invites you send or I will completely ignore them. I'm currently somewhere around level 11 in Team Slayer and level 6 in Team Snipers on Halo 2. I'll probably start playing Gears of War as well (I bought it already).

Incidentally, I don't actually own an XBOX 360 yet... I've reserved the next used system that comes in at Play It Trade It. That place is the best used game store on the planet!

Records Last Big Thing

Just recently I picked up my Great Aunt's old record player. I have to say it is one of my greatest acquisitions. I have since bought my way into a decent starting record collection!

My collection so far includes Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, Meatloaf, Johnny Cash, and Billy Joel among others.

I'm thoroughly enjoying the vintage sound and feel I get from listening to music on its original medium.

In other news: My new big plan for this account is to post in small tidbits as I have been doing. This makes my personal enjoyment of publishing a lot better. Plus I can post with text messages, which is just fricken sweet.

I have no idea what I'm doing.

Hey look I have a blog...

Yay.

I guess I'm writing this blog to see how much I enjoy writing in general. We'll start with an overview of me and my personality, followed closely (or not) by my interests, whims, fancies, fantasies, ambitions, and other things that no one will read.

It is my belief that the only people who will ever read this blog are me, myself, and I. The only exception being the police, should I become the subject of a criminal investigation.

Terrorism... Hey look I said a bad word! Now I'm the subject of a federal investigation!!!

Anyway...

I guess I'll do this in the form of writing prompts. I've never given a thought to writing outside of an education environment before. The only writing experience I have involves those stupid writing prompts from school. I've been doing them since the age of two so this should be easy!

Prompt: Give a description of yourself. Focus on your personality and what makes it unique. How many words should I go with? I guess I'll give myself a small number (this is my first blog entry ever you know).

I guess I consider myself an oddball. Its not that I feel out of place, or even that I try not to fit in. The thing is that I feel at home amongst almost any group of people. The description "Jack of all trades, master of none" fits me well. I've never been spectacular at anything outside of academics. I can hold my own in casual sports, but I really pretty much suck. I can't win in games of strategy either. I play to have fun.

Lately my focus in extracurricular activities has been on boating and Magic the Gathering. Its and interesting combination! The two hobbies don't really mix. It just won't do to have my $20-a-piece cards getting soaked while I'm rowing my boat around. That's right, rowing. I don't own some stupid over-powered speedboat. I own a 10 foot Jon boat. It has no engine, just oars and my arms to power it.

You might be wondering what Magic the Gathering is. Magic the Gathering is a CCG or Collectible Card Game. It involves building a small (60 card) deck from a large number of printed cards to play an opponent who has done likewise. The game is based in a fantasy realm. Participants in the duel draw magical energy called mana from the land they control to summon monsters and cast spells to defeat their opponent. This is currently an important part of my life (makes me seem really lame doesn't it?).

There are a great number of other things about me that might be noted. I just recently broke up with my girlfriend of a year and a half. She dumped me after returning from a religious retreat. At the time I was very depressed. She didn't believe she could "make me happy anymore" and stated this as the reason for our break-up. I think there was quite a bit more involved.

I'm a strong advocate for liberal parenting. I have seen over-protective parents smother their children's will to become independent. This is, in my opinion, a crime against humanity and the future of our nation.

I guess I'll leave it there for now. I don't know that this entry works properly... Any suggestions for improvement in my writing skills are greatly appreciated!
